Tuition

Our School has been established for over 15 Years. It operates in the shallow waters of Poole Harbour - one of the most popular windsurfing destinations in the UK. . All our instructors have been trained to RYA standards. We currently offer tuition in two areas - Windsurfing and Kitesurfing

Windsurfing

Courses take place every day of the week from March to November. Starting times are generally 9.30am and 2.00pm with evening courses at 5.30pm, although we reserve the right to cancel lessons when there is unfavourable weather or tide. We provide all the equipment needed to take part, you just need to bring a pair of shoes you don't mind getting wet and a towel.

Beginners

Level 1

Cost £89 complete or £49 per session (2 sessions of 3hrs) juniors 16 and under £69.

A two part course covering the basics. It includes practice on a dry land simulator and on the water tuition. We teach sailing along stearing, turning round and going both upwind and downwind.
Children can be taught (depending on size!)

After the beginners course we recommend taking 10 hours hire before moving on to the higher levels. For this we sell a hire card a discounted rate of £99.

Because we're keen to introduce new people into the sport once you've completed our beginners course we’ll give you £89 off the price of a new board!

Improving techniques

level 2

Cost £59 per session - 3hr sessions

Improves the basic techniques you have learned - tacking, gybing, upwind and downwind sailing and introduces you to the harness. Most sailors need two sessions before they have grasped everything.

Introduction to planing techniques

level 3

Cost £59 per session - 3hr sessions

In higher winds basic skills need to be more finely tuned, also footstraps, harness and board trim are more important. These sessions give you the skills needed in higher winds and would normally be suitable for someone with 20hrs experience of sailing to Level 2 standard.

Private tuition

Cost £30 per hour + £10 per extra person

For individual attention or to concentrate on particular sailing skills e.g. carve gybes or waterstarts, private tuition is ideal - it takes about a day to organise.

Hire

We hire complete boards and rigs to suit most standards of sailing from our centre on the harbourside. Cost £12 per hour inc. wetsuit etc. 10 hour Hire Card £99 Short board £20 per hour Wetsuit £5 per day

Kitesurfing Tuition cost - £95 one day £165 two days

This is the newest service provided by us. Kitesurfing is a sport which has come to the UK in the last year. For anyone considering the sport there is little chance of meeting someone else with experience. But buying the equipment without having first tried the sport can be a little daunting to say the least.

We provide a one day course for beginners which covers all the essential kitesurfing skills and also the safety tips that you need to know. The cost of the course is then refundable if you buy board and kite from us. for details of the equipment we supply go to the kitesurfing equipment page.

The course starts on the land learning to fly a power kite with harness and bar and attempting 'scudding' ie. skidding yourself along using the power of the kite. These skills controlling the kite on the land are important to learn before progressing to the second part of the course which is to control the kite on the water practice body dragging and then try getting onto the board.

Previous experience of kite flying and windsurfing does help but is not necessary. All the equipment is provided by us - we are using Wipika kites and F-One boards.

The courses now take place any day of the week that suits you. We meet at the shop at 9.15 on the morning of the course.

So if you fancy a go at the newest sport around, give us a call or mail us!
