Our Best Wing Foiling Wings

Since the introduction of winging and wing foiling to the watersports world in 2019, there has been many adaptations and updates to the equipment as we all progress. The wings themselves have developed to be designed for certain styles of riding such as beginner and freeride, to wave and jumps; as well as the increase in size range and style of handles to boom grip.

We have put together a list of the best wings we have found for all styles of wing foiling, that provide great performance and comfort when riding.

1. ENSIS SCORE

The SCORE is for everyone who wants to feel pure passion on the water – from discoverers to the pro. The ENSIS wings are well-known for their high performance and the SCORE will amaze you with its power and stability. It will get you foiling in barely any wind while staying extremely stable and controllable even in the stormiest conditions. The aspect ratio of each size has been specifically designed to provide both great power, for starts and upwind performance, and uncompromised manoeuvrability.  The windows consist of an exclusive tempered feature, with perfect elasticity to retain the high performance of the wing.

The Ensis Score is Chris’ personal favourite, with fantastic handles that are comfortable, and a light, weight powerful wing in general. The sportier wing out of the Ensis range.

2. DUOTONE SLICK SLS

As mentioned above, the Slick has undergone improvements and upgrades for 2023 and the year ahead. Duotone starts by using new technology of SLS – Strong/ Light/ Superior.

The most popular model in the range is now lighter with more lift and stability resulting in a wing that’s easier to use with a smoothness that will make you want to stay on the water for hours! It’s not only lighter but also stiffer resulting in crisper, more direct feedback.

The Slick SLS is great for rotational moves and has been engineered to give enough clearance to reduce the dragging of the wingtips. A new window layout reduces weight while maintaining visibility to any blind spots.

A firm favourite in the shop, and the go-to for those that like the boom feature of a wing.

3. NEILPRYDE FLY

Their introduction to the market has been delayed, but for good reason. Neilpryde have been working on this wing for the last two years to provide the ultimate wing for this time.

Due to the highly refined LE geometry and entry shaping, each wing produces the maximum thrust (power and acceleration) for its size. This dramatically increases the range, allowing riders to use a smaller wing than is typical in each set of conditions. The result is easier handling and greater manoeuvrability. Rigid tubular handles add amazing roll control and ease of movement for the rider. This wing is going to make a big impact into the market as it ticks all the boxes, superbly designed and amazing to use.

4. DUOTONE UNIT

Again for 2023, the Duotone Unit has undergone some upgrades to continually increase performance and positive user experience. A new canopy of MOD3 provides more power, better hang time and improved drift stability.

From the first pump, you’ll notice the additional power MOD3 brings to the wing. With responsive handling through the rigid handles. The 2023 Unit gets you up in flight mode sooner, with an improved grunt and low end allowing you to use smaller-sized wings. The higher modulus MOD3 fabric holds the shape of the wing with double the strength in warp direction and 3 times* the stretch resistance in bias direction compared to traditional canopies.

Whether you love drawing flowing lines in the surf and open ocean swells, lift and hang time in tacks and jumps or simply like riding with extra horsepower in your engine, the 2023 Unit is yet again another step ahead of the pack!

5. NAISH MATADOR LT

The Matador LT is the newest wing released by Naish and as always has undergone some upgrades for the next season. The Matador is a great wing for everyone, whether you are starting out, blasting about or even jumping. With the more compact shape and less swing weight wave riders love this wing as it still remains stable with a great boost of power. We recommend the LT range in particular due to the power and control remaining the same but the wing is lighter and more maneuverable. The LT canopy has no window panels and there is more pre-load in its windowless canopy than its predecessor, creating even better “sheet-in-and-go” power with a more balanced and linear power delivery. Only three wide ergonomic handles for users, but with new rubber inlay grip-stripes, it makes the handles even more comfortable and require less rider effort to hang on to! Feedback already on this wing has been super positive.
