If you’ve been making excellent use of second hand kayaks and other equipment in recent weeks, there’s an event on the horizon that sounds like an absolute must-do for you… the 11th National Watersports Festival, taking place at Rutland Water in Oakham, near Leicester.

The event is being put on between June 2nd and 4th, so you’ve got plenty of time to plan your trip to the East Midlands – and you can expect to have an amazing time away, since it’s the biggest participation watersports event in the whole of the UK.

The good news is that it doesn’t matter whether you’re a beginner, intermediate or professional – you’re going to have a brilliant time if you’re into your windsurfing, stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking. All sorts of different activities and competitions are being put on, from tug of war and red dragon races to Master Blaster races that are suitable for all levels.

You can also try your hand at lots of other activities (that are also perfect for children), including cycling, rock climbing, zorbing, crazy golf, aqua parks… the list goes on and on! If you’re bored at this particular event, then you’re certainly not doing it right.

Once the sun goes down, the party doesn’t stop either. Lots of local DJs, bands and artists will be on hand to keep everyone very entertained throughout the whole weekend, while on the Saturday night professional athletes will take to the water to wow crowds with racing and freestyle skills – you’ll definitely come away inspired after the weekend is up.
