iQFoil - The Olympics 2024 and beyond...

- Starboard are extremely proud and excited to share with all of you the news that the Starboard iQFoil has been selected as the 2024 Olympic Equipment, replacing the RS:X equipment after the 2020 Olympic Games. The iQFoil concept is the fruit of many years of windsurf foiling equipment development, but developing the equipment to running a successful Olympic Campaign are two very different stories.  The story of their iQFoil proposal has, above all, been one of great teamwork with a common goal of making the future of windsurfing more exciting and sustainable for the generations to come. -

Fin or foil, from 5 knots to 35 knots, the iQFOiL Youth package delivers the ultimate in windsurfing racing performance with just one board, one foil, one fin, one sail.
The iQFOiL Youth package includes a Starboard iQFOiL 85 Starlite Carbon board, the Severne HyperGlide Olympic rig in 8.0 (with the GO Boom 186-236) and the iQFOiL Aluminium foil by Starboard Foils.

THE BOARD: 

Dimensions: 210x85cm. 153 liters
The new 85cm wide iQFOiL board, is the one-design board for Junior U15, Junior U17 and Youth U19. One board for three generations of windsurfers.

Smaller and more controllable for younger sailors. This new size shares the same racing genes as the iQFOiL 95.

Additional footstrap positions and reduced rail cutaway sizes improve performance in fin mode.
The iQFOiL 85 is constructed in Starboard’s new Starlite Carbon technology for the highest performance at a lower price point.

  Each board is made 100x Climate net positive through the Mangroves planted in Thor Heyerdahl Climate Park. Our own Starboard Plastic Offset Program picks up 1.4 kg of ocean plastic per board sold. Back to back 2017/2018 World Champion and Vice World Champion, making it the most successful racing foil in windsurfing to date: Starboard’s Race foil started the iQFoil project and it is the foil that made foiling in the Olympics a possibility. Its innovative racing geometry was the breakthrough that enabled foiling to cover Windsurfing Olympics’ wind range and performance requirements.

Starboard Aluminium masts use proprietary and patent-pending triple I-beam cross-section with a unique profile that pushes more material to the perimeter than any other known masts, providing unprecedented stiffness and performance.

It comes with two new Plus fuselages, the 115cm Plus for upwind downwind racing and the 95cm Plus for higher winds and racing formats with more reaching. The Plus fuselages have an adjustable tail wing angle that allows the rider to increase control in high winds or increase power in light winds.

> Tail Wing Adjustment - iQFOiL sets are supplied with six angle spacers (-2° / -1.5° / -1° / -0.5° / 0° / +1°) and with a new 255 tail wing that has -2° built in.

The recommended tail wing angle on the 115 Plus is -2°, so we recommend starting with the 0° spacer. For the 95 Plus the recommend tail angle is -1°, so we recommend starting with the +1°, spacer. You can reduce tail wing angle for more speed and control, or increase for more power.

> The iQFOiL sets are supplied with both the 115 Plus fuselage and the 95 Plus fuselage. The 115 Plus is recommended for extra power and for maximum upwind/downwind performance. The 95 Plus fuselage is recommended for reaching courses, for long-distance marathons and higher GPS speeds. 

THE SAIL:

Severne Hyperglide Olympic 8.0 - 

Designed to feel light in the hands, responsive and with an expanded wind range, the Olympic edition of the HyperGlide works with foil and fin.

THE MAST: 

Severne Apex 490 - 

The APEX mast has an added fibreglass outer layer which makes it less susceptible to impact damage.
The Apex taper has smaller diameter mid-sections with increased wall thickness for increased reliability.

90% Carbon mast for extra durability.

THE BOOM:

Severne GO Boom - Youth

186-236.

The Severne Apex mast comes with SlipLok technology. Alternating texture patterns in the boom area increases friction for less slippage. This eliminates the need to overtighten the boom, decreasing stresses on the mast.

Using the Severne boom with the Lockjaw front end, you only need to apply minimum force for it to sit perfectly on the mast without sliding.

You should not apply more than 10-15kg of pressure on the end of the lever for it to close. This can be done with two fingers.

DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN!
Overtightening the boom head can cause damage to your mast.
