ALUMINIUM V8 MAST

Aluminium: stiff, reliable, stable
Choose the Aluminium V8 mast if you want:

One of the stiffest and most rigid alloy masts on the market.
An affordable performance mast that gives the possibility of a future upgrade to carbon, while keeping all other components the same.
A strong mast that is suitable for all types of foiling, including jumping.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT SIZE

72-77CM

Pros: Feels more direct and stable, flies lower which can be less scary, easier to control, easier to take off.

Cons: Flying low makes foiling out (this when the wings come out of the water) easier. Wing tips also breach the water surface more easily.

Ideal for:

  • Progressing foilers
  • Downwind foilers who like to keep the wings flying close to the water surface

82-88

Pros: A great all-round and versatile size. Masts in this size group still feel direct and stable while the higher flight compared to the 72-75cm size masts gives more flying room .

Cons: Some riders prefer shorter masts and others will find it not long enough!

Ideal for:

  • All-round foilers
  • Freeride foilers
  • Freestyle foilers

92-95+

Pros: A longer mast gives you more leverage, increasing the foil's speed. The wings can fly deeper underwater, minimizing wing-tip breach when carving hard or heeling to windward.

Cons: Added weight, more technical to ride and control, flying higher can be scary for beginners!

Ideal for:

  • Racers
  • Advanced foilers

NEW UCS

UNIVRSAL CONNECT SYSTEM - UCS is an open, simplified foil connection system designed to be a standard shared by many foil brands.

From pro riders who wish to fine tune wing angles to every day foilers who just want parts to fit each other, a UCS foil “just works” right out of the box. Strong and light for freestyle, streamlined and extremely stiff for racing, compatible with thick or thin wings, UCS also offers geometry options that work for all foiling disciplines, from wing to windsurf. All in an elegant and simple-to-use system.

How do the wings connect?

Slide on the wings and tighten all the bolts that are conveniently placed on the same side. Both front and tail wings use the same connection, with large, flat mating surfaces that guarantee maximum strength and stiffness.

A thin carbon cover wraps around the top of the saddle to guarantee a smooth, streamlined nose no matter the front wing’s shape, size and thickness. No more steps or seamlines to disturb the flow of water.

How does the mast connect?

Two pairs of bolts placed side by side creates an innovative mast-fuselage connection that is simple, strong and incredibly stiff. A subtle mating V-shape keeps it all aligned under pressure.

> Can UCS wings be used on previous generation Starboard foils?

No, but we offer a 'hybrid' fuselage at a special rate for those who are upgrading. This hybrid fuselage lets you attach UCS wings to the preceding generations of Starboard Foil masts. Available in 66cm, 99cm and 109cm.

> With more brands joining the Universal Connect System, UCS makes everything easy. Look for the ‘Works With UCS’ logo and feel confident the part will fit.
